This is a review for Gary not Ameriprise. I would go less than 1 star if I could. I had moved to the Chicago area for a new job and since I was already with Ameriprise, I was referred to Gary. The first thing he did is enroll me in this life insurance certificate plan that I unfortunately didn't see through at the time. He then came up with a long term 30 page financial plan portfolio and I started investing. cookie cutter approach. higher commission investments, lacks follow up and reviews Gary has the ability to push you to buy, for example, mutual funds that are bad investments or insurance because they have really high fees. Those mutual funds give the adviser a commission in exchange. The result is the adviser gets paid more money for giving you bad advice... period I realized that after 5 years - DONT CARE What the investments do, advisor/ Ameriprise Financial gets to keep the fixed high commission.
