The first Shops in Chicago sold CaramelCrisp®, CheeseCorn, Buttery and Plain for 5 cents a bag alongside homemade fudge and roasted nuts. I came all the way from Texas and was very disappointed that my popcorn was stale. As soon as I got to my hotel room and tried to eat it, I realized I couldn’t enjoy it even though I had bought plenty for my friends and family. I wanted to return it, but the shop was already closed, and I had an early morning flight the next day. That said, the employees were kind and helpful, which is the only reason this review is a 3 instead of lower. Their customer service is truly 5 out of 5.
I was really looking forward to trying the Chicago mix. Unfortunately it was disappointing, mostly due to the fact that the popcorn was stale! I know it looks nice to have the bins full of popcorn but better to offer a product fresh at all times and less in the bin.
The first time we visited Chicago years ago we found Garretts and loved it. We visiting again I stopped by Grant Park and had to take the quick stroll to get more to take home. Yes, the mix is a classic, if you only go once get it. The cheese corn is such a high quality. With every phone I was impressed at how much cheesy flavor was present.
