I live in GBM since 1979, first w family then on my own and every negative listed is true! Old subpar construction, paper thin walls and floors that are spongy and act like cymbals! WINDOWS are VERY low quality and needed replacing 20yrs ago, heating is steam, can't be controlled and sounds like backfiring guns! First floor living is esp challenging here as there is always someone out and about smoking weed, drinking or otherwise just being a nuisance. Crapy...crapy place. Poor management, they only want to make trouble for the residents there. The new board of directors, all jokers if you ask me, and full with power that they do not have and they love to make your life a living hell... The residents do not care for the place either, so the board elects itself every year. What a pathetic joke they are. BEWARE...NEVER BUY AT GARDEN BAY CONDOS... I have lived in Garden Bay Manor all my life over 37 years first with my parents and then with my family. The neighbors are nice and people who live in other building are nice and polite. The maintenance staff as well as office staff are all nice and professional. I am sorry that you might have had experience but the area has not really changed much. There are many different types of cultures living here more now then years ago but still being here for so long I have no complaints at all so please don't have a bad experience... read more
I grew up here, it was a nice place to grow up. Quiet streets, safe, there are a lot of trees and a lot of space for kids to run around. I disagree with the other review that says the walls are like paper. I hardly hear a sound through them. Some noise could be heard through the ceilings, but not too bad. The only disadvantage is that it is so far from the subway and you need to depend on buses. The board is also very particular with how residents store their things in the basement and how it is used.
Do not ever, BUY, or RENT here you will regret it with all your HEART, the walls here are made of PAPER, you can hear everything from your neighbors, everyone fights here DAILY with eatchother, the BOARD does not care about you, they do nothing, your life will be a living HELL, I SWEAR DO NOT COME HERE TO LIVE, if you do, you will live in HELL!!!
