The fireplace is fine and works. The measurements were checked by 3 different people. At the time of installation we asked if it was too low. We were told it will be fine. The drywaller did his work to the bottom of the stud. The surrounding only reaches the bottom of the stud. Why no communication when we asked at the start? For an additional $350 I can have a 'custom made' surround. Not happy! Just a warning to other home owners who are tired of having 'extras' pop up. Ask, ask, ask.
