What a great experience! Absolutely loved seeing the bats fly from the cave. Being able to drive my elderly mother right up to the top of the hill was very helpful.
Highlight of our trip! Mr. Bain Walker served as our tour guide and provided wonderful information and entertainment, while we awaited the bats departure. Seeing so many bats leaving right at the cave was a surreal experience that is a MUST when visiting the area. Please remember to bring your bug spray, but the gnats will still annoy the heck out of ya. Gates open exactly at 7 PM, so no need to get there too early.
Absolutely breathtaking. The calming sound of millions of wings all in synced flight, while the cave swallows and crickets are chirping together as the sun sets is a must see. The surrounding rocks are perfectly stacked to create a seating amphitheater which allows you to be directly underneath the 10-12 million bats as they exit the cave and generate that beautiful noise. Great experience! We got there about 35 minutes early because we weren't sure what to expect regarding entry. I wouldn't say that's necessary unless you habitually run late. The ranger shows up at the gate right at the posted start time to lead everyone in. The guide is great, and the view is majestic.
