An Oakland family tradition lives. I had a vision to make my grandparents' heirloom pieces mine, and James Luker made it reality. His insight and artisanship are exemplary, as well as his attention to the details that matter. I appreciated his respect for my ideas and budget. Luker learned fine upholstery from his grandfather, John Freitas, and The Paramount Theatre displays generations of their work. If you just want cushions, they do those too. We're proud to support this small Oakland business.
James Luker transformed our 20+ year old Lazy Boy recliners. They look like new for a fraction of the cost of buying new chairs. He completed the work in 7 weeks, which I think is reasonable for one person working on two large chairs along with other orders at the same time. I also appreciated that James was able to pick up and deliver the chairs. Since I ordered the fabric through James, he offered a 20% discount off the list price. I am over the moon!!! I cannot overemphasize how elated I am right now. I contact John D. Freitas Upholstery about my couch and loveseat. The arm on each piece was very worn. He assured me that he was able to repair the arms to both my couch and loveseat without having to re-upholster the entire set. Now this living room set is 11yrs old, both pieces has been restored.
