Took the truck in to a different shop for routine maintenance. Ended up with a check engine light pointing to transmission. The guy just scratched his head, cleared the code. Took it to Freeway transmission. They were fast and spot on without breaking the bank.

I stopped by last week for a preventive thermal bypass valve upgrade. The technician quoted me $250 ($170 labor / $40 part), said it takes about an hour, and told me to call back the next week so he could fit me in. I called, we agreed on the price and work to be done and he told me to bring my truck in on Thursday early morning. I arrived at 9:45 AM, and he complained that I was supposed to be there at 9:00 AM. The transmission service went well overall and their prices were competitive and comparable to other places, including the subaru dealership for servicing my transmission. Customer service was disappointing as a whole. They didn’t do work without authorization, which makes total sense. They were sending text messages that I was not seeing and then they called frustrated that I was not responding to their text messages about approving services.
