I do not recommend. The counselor I dealt with spoke to me like she was using a telemarketer script. She did not come across as sincere at all. She failed to follow up with her contact information after our first session. She seemed very inexperienced. Additionally, she gave me zero input into how sessions with my child would go. She insisted that any input I gave her (regarding issues my child might be dealing with) be done in front of my child which was only aggravating the situation. As a long-term colleague and friend of Tony Gore, and as a fellow long-term therapist in the community, I can recommend Tony and his team as a great counseling resource in our area. As a person with spiritual depth and authenticity, he skillfully combines faith resources and clinical knowledge in his counseling work. With care and courage he is able to “speak the truth in love” in a way that blesses and helps others.
My daughter has had to seek counseling after her counselling here. She did not feel heard or understood. I am sure there are some good counselors here and I love their mission which is why we chose to use them during a particularly difficult season for our family. I just wish that the counselor could have seen beyond their own personal experience and been more open to hearing the very real struggles of an honest and sincere teen.
Tony is a wonderful family and marriage counselor. I believe God used him to help me move to the next place spiritually, develop as a Christian mother daughter and friend. I’m free of the issues I had when I saw him. They creep up now and then but I have tools to deal with them. He’s not a critic of theology but a follower of Gods word.
