I am a surgeon that needed cataract surgery. I did not check Healthgrade or Google to choose my eye doctor. I talked to every physician my age and asked them about their cataract experience. It was amazing the number of doctors that had Dr Freedman perform the surgery. I then checked on the anesthesia staff and on the dept of health inspections. The inspections were excellent. What a waste of my time and money!!! My appt. was at 10 am, he sauntered in at 11:07. My appt. with him lasted approximately 4 minutes, he was rude, cold and very dismissive to me and my concerns (I've had multiple laser surgeries due to a torn retina/vitreous). All of my concerns - from dry eyes to extreme visual floaters were dismissed. He literally has a staff member with him at all times so they can "smooth" his cold angry personality. What a miserable man! Never again!
Terrible
Dr. Alan Freedman in my personal opinion is a hack & a butcher!!! It is quite possible he damaged my wife's eyesight while preforming Cataract surgery. Long story short, one of his assistant's while preparing her eye, jabed her so hard - her eye swelled-up, and turned the worst color BLACK/BLUE-RED. In all my years in boxing & MMA Fighting, I have, NEVER seen such an eye. The anesthesiologist was surprised Dr.Freedman didn't postpone the surgery till the swelling went down.
I was very impressed with Dr Freedman and was comfortable going to surgery for my cataracts until I started dealing with his office staff. The told me pretty much the opposite of what he and I had discussed during our visit. The last one that I spoke to practically called him a liar and said what he told me was wrong. I am afraid of him now because of the complete lack of communication between him and his "nurses". What if they tell him the wrong thing when I am in surgery?
