I buried my father in 1984 at the cemetery on Taft st and 441 which was a beautiful place at the time. Not understanding Jewish laws when it came to Jewish death procedures at the young age of 19 I trusted Fred Hunter to guide me during my grief. Not only was I guided and encouraged to purchase the 2nd most expensive casket but a lavish pricy service the morning after he passed at 10pm the night before. My mom recently passed away and we contacted Fred Hunter funeral home because we had used them before when my father passed away and their service had been prompt, respectful and kind. Our initial phone consultation was good but a lot of information was left out which I wish we had known in advance and maybe we would have made a different choice. Everything for my brother Ray's life celebration was above and beyond our already high expectations after Fred Hunter's was recommended by my brother's best friend. Funeral Director Zacary Brookin, along with Renee, Dawn and Anthony, set up two larges screens with a photo and video montage. They also set up multiple tables of photos and memorabilia decorated to the two themes giving most meaning to Ray's life, his love of the ocean and his rebirth 22 years ago through his immersion and devotion to service in AA. I’m familiar with this funeral home because I am in the industry. My best friend’s father passed and she was in NY so I referred her to Fred Hunter because she needed a place in Hollywood. The situation was complicated but they made it so easy. She was able to come with her family, honor her father’s wishes, and the staff did everything for her even the prayer cards.
