I live in town but have only been here a couple of times. I stopped in in to grab a sloppy joe and take it home. I was shocked at how amazing it was. Probably one of the best I've had and it pains me to know that something so good is so close to my house. I've been thinking about the sandwich since yesterday. Counter help was super nice and the place looks nostalgic inside which is right up my alley.
We went to Fred and Murray’s at about 6:30 pm on a Sunday evening. I ordered chicken noodle soup, which was only lukewarm and hot corned beef on rye which was sort of on the dry side — not juicy at all. My partner ordered the matzo ball soup and the brisket with potato pancakes. The matzo ball soup was also lukewarm, but the matzo ball itself was good. Great food and service 5*
An OG Jewish deli. I’ve been coming here for years and nothing —except the prices—has changed. Good pastrami. Good tongue. The rye bread was a disappointment, as it didn’t have much flavor (some people might prefer seedless rye but we are not some of those people.) Excellent pickles. A wide variety of tasty knishes. Friendly service. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for a real delicatessen.
