From camping to geocaching to each walking to hiking. Fort Worden historical State Park has a little bit of everything. Lots of birds and other wildlife to see and observe. So many wonderful trails. Old abandoned bunkers and cannon batteries. Lots of old history to be found in new memories to be made. One of my favorite destinations in the state. Close enough to Port Townsend for a little urban getaway. Or just stick to the beaches forest and parks.
My husband and I were excited to visit this park. We brought our dogs with us. They’re 20 lbs and 35 lbs beagle mixes. We follow the law and had them on leash at all times. They are leash reactive to other dogs while on leash, so we always scoot about 5-10 feet off trail when we see someone else with a dog. Again, our dogs were on their leashes.
