The only word to describe Fort Lewis Lodge is simply - magical. This was my first time visiting rural Virginia, all the way from Australia, and I have never come across a more serene and beautiful property. Absolutely everything is top notch here. The stunning nature and scenery, the beautiful property, the food (I never go for seconds and I just inhaled every single thing on the menu). Fort Lewis Lodge is absolutely magical. I grew up in the area and have been wanting to return for a while without getting pulled into the bigger tourist locations. Staying at Fort Lewis Lodge felt like all the best parts of coming home to Bath County. If you want to experience the area like a local with the best views, undisturbed wildlife, and a dip into the Cowpasture River, this is your spot. The food is better than anywhere else in the area. Already planning our next visit :)

My wife and I love our visits to Fort Lewis. This year was our second year staying, and we always have such a great time. From the endless options of exploring, Caryl’s incredible cooking, and quaint rooms (we love the silo!), we’d choose Fort Lewis over any other type of vacation. We just got back from our stay and are already looking forward to next year!

The whole property is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is super friendly. Carol, the owner of 40 years, is very nice and is the chef who creates all the wonderful meals. If you're looking to get out of the chaos, this is your place.
