i went to mrs misty for years, i moved away and ended up even coming back to her after relocating to the area because i liked her so much. During one of my appointments i explained that i felt i had some further issues than just my diagnosis (adhd) and she pulled put a book of all the “mental illnesses” and said “this is what you are” under the adhd diagnosis and said “this is what you are not” under the autism diagnosis. Loved Miss Misty, until she gaslit my daughter into believing she was being dramatic when she told Miss Misty she thought she might be on the spectrum, not just ADHD (which her pediatrician diagnosed her with). My daughter was then taken to a psychiatrist and was diagnosed Level II ASD, combined type ADHD with an adjustment disorder. It is not a therapist’s job to diagnose or dismiss diagnoses. It is their job to let listen.
We love love love Misty she is an amazing person and easy to talk to. My family has benefited since we met her. Such a Blessing!
