Pasta should not be chewy!!! – I've been to both locations several times over the past 7 years and the service has consistently been average. Visited the CI location yesterday with a few friends. We all had different variations of the rasta pasta because it's usually pretty good. Now, I'm no chef, but I know, that pasta should not be chewy. I should not have to pick it out of my teeth!! Won't spend another nickle in there – I live in Coney Island, and have visited this place on the off season when it's empty. Whether Summer, or Winter the wait staff is clearly not interested in any customers other than African-American. I've sat at the bar when the restaurant is empty, and have had the bartender walk out from around the bar, and wait 30 minutes for a drink. The Bar Lounge Setting – I was happy to be in Brooklyn. The Long Island setting is getting played out and it is time to play the city hard this summer, since it's close to me. I would go back, but next time I will pick a different dish.......
Way better than its other location – I love the food, the wait staff is funny, the decor is nice, you can sit on the balcony up stairs in the summer and cool it at a table downstairs or upstairs, theme evening like, latin night, open mic, etc. and drink specials makes you take the trip to Coney island even when its not summer.
Great food – This place is great, our waiter was a bit on the weird side but the food and drinks made up for it. JerkChicken strips were delicious. I didn't like my entree "Bourbon chicken & shrimp" but my husband had oxtails w/ rice and peas and it was AMAZING.... They had so many drinks to choose from and the dessert was good. I'll definitely go back!
