Best thing that I ever did for myself in my life was to admit myself into this awesome facility. The staff are amazing (they saved my life). Two years ago today I was released from there, and I am still sober today, and it is now 2014. I became very close to some of the staff. Pete (detox staff), and I became best of friends (I just finished talking to him on the phone). My son went here just last few days and he has never felt so humiliated and out of sorts. Felt very alone and no structure. The cook handling spaghetti with his bare hands is unacceptable. As had spaghetti and meatballs. He was so cold in his bed. The counsellor singling him out in group was wrong. You dont do that to a new comer first time timid young man. He was emotional and felt very alone and segregated, sad this has happened. Hope some changes happen as that is not fair or acceptable for a detox place.

Don't mention you have flu like symptoms (which is common with any addicted who isn't eating or dehydrated and congested) these people will do anything to not admit you after even driving an hour and a half from calgary to their facility. They are literally allowing albertans to die from thus disease as opposed to help them. Did I mention that based off the sound of my voice, the male who works their deemed me sick. Very rude staff whom will not assist those with typical symptoms such as the fever (common with withdrawal) and won't accept those whom they deem congested based off a phone call( also common with severe dehydration and lack of eat and sleep). As shifty as the ones are in calgary, why drive 1 hour and 40 minutes only to get denied to get help when you are suffering from a disease. I just tried to get into detox and they told me they cannot take me for longer than 3 days gave me some excuse they can’t keep me knowing I have to go into treatment. Staff sucks I wouldn’t want to go there anyways.
