The Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon Series has earned its title as “America’s Toughest Road Marathon” by challenging runners with over 7,430 feet in elevation change, more than any other road marathon in the U.S. This race runs along the famously scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, and proceeds from this non-profit event benefit the parkway and local charities. Race weekend includes a marathon, double marathon, marathon relay, half marathon, 10K, and 1-mile fun run, along with the Down by Downtown Music Festival.

My best friend and I signed up for this race in January. It was both of our second time participating in person (though we’ve also participated virtually twice as well). I have loved this race and was actually an ambassador for three years. Packet pickup was at 3pm on 4/19. We arrived around 5:30 and were told they were completely out of her shirt size. When she asked if she could get a different shirt, she was told no, that she had to come back at bag drop on race day. After we completed our distance we went to the bag drop... read more
This race series is the most challenging I've encountered because of the elevation, but it rivals the Richmond series in it's friendliness! It's worth every step!
