Today, my 91-year-old mother was refused care as "she has never signed her own paperwork before". While I do have DPOA for my mother, this does not remove her rights over her person. Even after my mother explained that her daughter had just had emergency surgery and was unable to be with her, she was denied care. This is against the law. My mother is not incapable of signing for herself; she is mostly blind and of course does not drive.
Our experience at this office was very disappointing from start to finish. The receptionist greeted us with a rude, dismissive attitude and came across as though she felt she was better than the patients. It did not make us feel welcome at all. I feel compelled to leave a negative review because waiting months for this appointment felt like a major waste of time and we all know how difficult it is to get in to see a dermatologist. The doctor was not helpful and gave me home remedies that felt lazy and rehearsed. She rushed me out of the appointment and wouldn’t take the time to listen to my other concerns. The examination lasted only a few seconds, and I was recommended a home remedy. Went back three months later and was told to "keep doing what you're doing," despite stating that my condition was getting increasingly worse. The doctor then implied I wasn't following her remedy correctly, and that was it. This left me so frustrated I started crying.
