This was one of the most disappointing experiences I have had with a law firm. I paid approximately $1,080 for an initial Zoom consultation and review of documents. During the meeting, it was apparent that the lawyer had not reviewed the materials in advance and was reading the documents for the first time during the call. Was referred to Ruth Ambrose-she was very kind. However, she referred me to Cain Lamarre. I was seeking a lawyer who was familiar with C-92. Cain seemed ready to just assume me/we (as in our family) could not afford the legal fees (I could not help but wonder was it on the basis of us being Indigenous??). If you hire these people to seek some justice, you will far outspend what you could win in a case. They keep billing you like you gave them a blank check to fill in each month. A simple letter could cost 10,000 to write. You could easily lose the case in monetary value, before you have any chance to "win ". They bill so many hours out of proportion to the work that most courts will likely not reimburse you the legal fees minus a fraction.
