Update: We've been at Fitness World about a year now. A few months ago they decided to take up a large area of gym space & turned it into an "Eat the Frog" workout space. You have to pay extra $$$ to take the class or even enter the space when the class isn't in session. The biggest issue I have is that the area they've taken up was a place where many (me included) gym goers used for stretching, squats, free weights and various other exercises. Hours, and variety of equipment and amenities is great. Some equipment is very worn. 90% of the barbells are bent. After 2 years I gathered that I wasn't the only member concerned about this and when brought up to staff, no change. (Good way to get injured and or develop muscle imbalances)
Fitness World in Ankeny is hands down the best Ankeny gym I have ever been to. The facilities are clean, welcoming, and packed with everything you need, whether you are just starting your fitness journey or looking to take it to the next level. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere makes it easy to stay motivated. A special shoutout to Rachel, the personal trainer. Best gym in Ankeny! Always clean, equipment breakdowns are fixed promptly, I LOVE the steam room, and being able to drop the kids off in the Kid's Gym for some supervised fun while getting a workout in is something I don't think I could do without now that I've had it.
