I’m extremely disappointed with how this gym handled a serious situation involving domestic violence. Instead of supporting the victim and prioritising safety, the gym chose to cancel the victim’s membership while allowing the perpetrator to remain. This decision sent a very clear message about whose safety and wellbeing mattered. I have been a member of this gym for over 12 months. The gym itself and all of the equipment is extremely old and arguable unsafe. Due to a domestic violence incident between myself and another member that occurred outside the gym the manager suspended my gym membership without giving me any notice or reason. I have been informed they are friends with the perpetrator and have been letting people use the gym without valid memberships. This gym should seriously reconsider its values when it comes to women’s safety and how it treats vulnerable members. After police made enquiries about a man associated with the gym who had allegedly assaulted his partner, the gym’s response was to revoke the woman’s membership and treat her as though she had done something wrong, despite the fact she was the one who went to police seeking help.
