My wife and I took a fantastic fissure 8 tour with Kris, today (Oct 20, 2025). We met Kris at his house, which is right next to 2018 Kilauea eruption lava flow that destroyed 716 homes. He first explained his personal experience with a great map and pictures (his previous house was destroyed by 2018 lava flow). The most unique experience on the island. Highly recommend
This was the first thing we did as we got to the big island, and it set the perfect start to vacation. Melissa was very informative and knowledgeable about the fissures and what remains now. She took us at a good pace for our group and answered any questions we had, (even if we asked them twice HAHA). Towards the end of the tour she gave us great recommendations for the island for the rest of our trip and sent us off with the Ohana spirit. We had a private tour of Fissure 8. It felt like you were walking around on Mars. It was pretty awesome to be so close to active volcanoes.
