Company is a fraud. Do not do business with them. The most incompetent company I have ever dealt with. Please file your complaints with the consumer financial protection bureau to help others in the same scenarios we find ourselves.
I have been with Firstmark since 2014. A lot of these negative reviews seem to be from recent merges/buyouts that Firstmark acquired, and their dissatisfaction. My advice to any new student when taking a student loan is that the company will most likely be bought out. Just as Federal Student Loans often get bought out; I've been through 3 servicers with those. I hadn't even begun repayment in 2014 when I took my student loans, and Firstmark bought my loan with FAME (Finance Authority of ME) within 2 months. Over the last 11 ... read more
THE WORST LOAN COMPANY! Predatory company that makes money off of buying peoples loans from other companies and then screwing them over. Both of my private loans got sold to Firstmark, unfortunately. They were sold in October 2023 and then in February 2024 I began to get notices that my loan payment was due (even though I was still in my 6 month grace period until March). THE ABSOLUTE WORSE COMPANY! THEY CALL ALL DAY EVEN WHEN YOU MAKE A PAYMENT WITH THEM!
By far the worst repayment company. My Discover Student Loans were bought out by First Mark and it has been a nightmare. I was charged twice in one month, and when I called for a refund I spoke to FIVE different associates who needed to ask around about my questions. One week later and I have not been refunded. They needed to “verify” my bank account t to refund the money however they have no issue “verifying” the account to withdraw two payments in one month.
