Im glad i went thru 1st step when i did before the Mr. Dee past. It was a great program where all was on point to where i started working there and then the chaos began with Kelly Day extorting people and causing the rest of the staff to get caught up into the extortion. He brings people on staff that have nothing where he can use their livelyhood or threaten their freedom by sending them back to jail with false accusations. Most judges won't even order anyone to or recommend this place any more. That and the Google reviews should tell you somethings not right. .If you really need a good sober living and want to stay sober try James Club Recovery. It's 1000xs better hands down! Hope this place changes for the better soon, if Not I see them shutting it down for sure. Good luck to all you out there and thanks to the few good ones that did work / live there. 🙏
If you want a program that works the 12 steps that will keep you in a safe clean environment I would not recommend first step .The houses aren't in safe area's I dont see much but retreads .I would never reccomend anyone who's serious about staying sober to go here.Fights break out safety was risky 1 star

i was first introduced to First Step through in 2003, when Richard, the founder and Chris ran it.... i personally was not in recovery,but my sons father was.... closed meetings were closed and open meetings frequently had the residents there with there families...husbands, wives, children grandchildren....it was a family atmosphere...BUTfirst and fore most was SOBRIETY.... if you want it YOU WILL do whatever you have toand need to to get and remain sober...its called doing to work.... FIRST OFF FOR THE IDIOT BASHING FIRST STEP MUST BE A CLOWN WHO ENTERED THE PROGRAM JUST FOR A PLACE TO STAY OR WAS TERMINATED FOR VIOLATING ONE OF THE RULES. FIRST STEP IS A STRUCTURE PROGRAM AND THEY HAVE ABOUT A 70% SUCCESS RATE. I ENTERED AND COMPLETED AND IM ACTUALLY DOIN THE BEST IVE EVER DONE IN MY LIFE. This place is a joke. 99% of the residents here are on some type of community control. The directors do not give a shit about the clients, and if you ask for help, you will be ignored. I was one of 4 white guys at the complex out of 100+ residents. This facility is located in such a bad neighborhood that I had one of the directors advise me not to walk alone since "a white boy like me would not survive".
