Need running stuff This place is great if you are into running and swimming. They have a great, knowledgeable staff that can help you with your selection. I went in here looking for goggles and was helped by a young man that showed me how the goggles should fit. You do not get that from the big box stores.
RecommendedMonica was great!!! So very helpful with fitting my daughter into a tech suit. Can’t recommend enough.
We went and picked out my daughters first true set of shoes for cross country. Dante was absolutely amazing in helping her pick out the right two pairs of shoes for her feet. We will definitely come back for her next pair.
Came from an hour away to get swimming gear. Called them and asked if they could wait a couple of minutes for me to buy a suit and some goggles for my daughter. The girl on the phone asked her manager and the manager basically said no. That’s the way to win people over and gain customer loyalty. We will buy our stuff online from now on. 👍

I have bought my walking shoes at 1st Place for years. Last year, I bought a pair of Hoka’s and had an issue with blisters in a weird spot. I finally gave up of them, and bought a pair of New Balance shoes a couple months ago. I had previously had great success with New Balance, but this pair also gave me blisters in a strange spot. I went in and Dante figured out the problem and made an easy fix that cost me nothing. Now both pairs of shoes feel great! I really appreciate the great customer service!
I am always in favor of shopping local. However, I received the worst and most unprofessional service from 1st Place Athletics that I have ever experienced in a retail setting. Unfortunately, we are required to purchase our children’s swim team suits here. Otherwise, I would prefer to spend my hard earned $110 online.
I went in with problems with my new running shoes I had purchased elsewhere. Stephen was amazing and took 30 minutes helping figure out what the problem could be-not just saying "buy new shoes from us" and after looking at a few different options to help the problem we settled on thicker insoles than my current ones. It has made all the difference in my long runs and will definitely be going there to purchase all future shoes!
We have bought our running shoes here for many years. The staff is always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and will go out of their way to find the right shoe for us. You won’t find a better place in Huntsville.
