Great bank. Excellent service.
I’ve been with First Merchants Bank since 2011. I utilize their services personally and for my business. Recently, they reached out to me because they were concerned someone was trying to commit fraud on one of my accounts. As it turned out, they were right and protected my money and initiated steps to help prevent such occurrences in the future. They have always been very professional and friendly and I don’t ever plan on changing banks.
Warning do not use this bank for your business! Poor business practices, no flexibility, ancient online functionality. Very backwards...EXTREMELY POOR customer service!
I have a Heloc (home equity line of credit account) here, but not checking or savings accounts. I have a credit card which I can use at merchants, but I can't use it to withdraw money from the ATM. If I want to buy something from someone that isn't a business. The only way I have access to the line of credit is to go into a branch, which isn't very convenient, because I work M-F 9am-midnight and don't usually want to get out of bed before noon on the weekends. Went and used ATM and they took double the amount out of my checking. Went inside talked to 3 cashiers and even the NEW manager and they said nothing they can do right now that they have a new system and a report would need to be filed . The cashier told me it happened to someone else before me also. They should have shut the ATM down till system was fixed. !!!
