Compounding overdraft fees. Instead of one 30 dollar overdraft fee they charge 8 dollars daily until the negative balance is positive again. Never seen this from a bank before. I got my account positive but I was still charged 8 dollars for that day for some reason. The 8 dollars put me back negative giving me another, you guessed it, 8 dollar fee from their own fee! Very anti consumer.
The citizens who use this bank wouldn’t believe what they allowed to be done to a blind lady and the angel of Christ. They allowed a 9,000.00 check to be written by someone not on her account.. then when they froze the account they stopped a payment from processing that results in a 25 dollar return fee when the money was there to begin with

I’ve been with First Merchants Bank since 2011. I utilize their services personally and for my business. Recently, they reached out to me because they were concerned someone was trying to commit fraud on one of my accounts. As it turned out, they were right and protected my money and initiated steps to help prevent such occurrences in the future. They have always been very professional and friendly and I don’t ever plan on changing banks.
