I have been using First Mate since my mechanic passed away. I was very nervous looking for a reliable and loyal mechanic to service my boat. One of my friends suggested I try Frist Mate, I have seen the truck in my marina and I am a friend of Ron's sister who also suggested trying out Frist Mate. I called Brenda and she gave me the best deal I could find on winterizing my boat. Had a hiccup with First Mate in the beginning of the season and I was highly annoyed with everything that happened however Ron was a consummate professional and called me to have a chat and resolve the issue at hand. I cannot give him enough credit for not only reaching out to me but for following thru and then fixing the issue with my boat….. I now have my boat back up and running like it is supposed to run! Excellent and trustworthy service from start to finish! I highly recommend using First Mate for any boat owner seeking reliable and skilled service. The whole team is responsive and helpful. Having repairs done at my dock saves me the hassle and expense of transporting my boat. Ron and Brenda and the whole team care about their customers and their boats. To have a company service my boat that I can trust means everything.
Well it literally sickens me to write this as I have always held First Mate and their staff in high regards however I’m beyond frustrated with the service and lack of respect I’ve been shown so here goes nothing!…Contacted Brenda the 2nd week of April 2025 to be put on schedule for my routine maintenance which is battery hook ups and oil changes…. Will not use anyone else!! Ron and his team are simply what boat family should be! You can be a ticket number somewhere else or you can be a name with First Mate! I’m at Goose Bay last night and my outdrive was stuck up. I give a ring (mind you it’s 7pm) and Ron calls me back and prevents a tow and walked me through how to get it back good enough to drive back to harbor safely!
