Deeply committed to natural childbirth and providing the midwifery model of care to mothers, babies and families, in 2012, three women, with the support of their families, bought a facility and turned it into the beautiful setting that would become the state of Missouri's FIRST free-standing, licensed, and nationally accredited birth center. This was the absolute worst experience. For the birth of my fourth child, I chose a birth center near me. I was then told, with less than a month left before my due date, that they would not be able to accomodate my birth. I was devastated and am left in the horrible position of trying to make new arrangements with less than 25 days before my due date. I would definitely NOT recommend this business.
1. The Birth and Wellness Center is a beautiful facility with knowledgeable and friendly staff! 2. I wish that local hospitals would partner with them for increased safety/wellness of patients. As to my knowledge, if there is an emergency during/after delivery with mom or baby, or a last-minute C-section, a 911 call is made, wait for an ambulance, etc. 3.
