I have tried numerous times to book a large party with hotel rooms at the Cambria Hotel. Apparently they use FIRC for their large bookings and no one ever calls back. I have run into this in years past as well, with the Haywood Hotel trying to do the same thing. I will not be recommending these hotels any longer due to FIRC's consistent lack of response.
Mixed use developments should be condemned by society. They induce artificial traffic patterns, over-crowded residential pockets and destroy locally-owned, mom and pop businesses, the antithesis of Asheville. FIRC has Asheville chamber & council in their back pocket. Put up a parking lot.
