One of my favorite theaters in New York City. Great choice of art house films and great ambiance in the lobby. Well worth a membership!
Film Forum screens an impressive array of foreign, independent and classic movies, and I love the diversity as well as when they have live speakers (including film makers and other experts). The downside: This place desperately needs an upgrade, especially in the screening rooms, where the screens are small and some rooms are so long and skinny that it seems like you're yards from the front. In short, in terms of content and presentations, I give Film Forum a 4 or 5. In terms of setting and facilities, I give it a 2.
I can't believe I haven't visited for as long as I have. But, I promise I won't stay away this loooong ever again.... Love Love Love my Film Forum
Film Forum is a great and wonderful place where people can come to experience and appreciate classic cinema. It's also a place where people respect the occasion of going to the movies as no one is talking during the movie or using their phone. I have been a member for the last few years and intend to stay one for a very long time. Film Forum is my favorite movie theater. I love attending screenings that are introduced by someone involved with the film. I can't wait to attend a silent film with live piano accompaniment by Steve Sterner. Sunday family films too.
