A week before Christmas, the hot water heater starts leaking. Our Bradford had gone out after 30 years of service, and we had to get a new one. I chose to go to Ferguson because they were a supplier and sold Bradford directly to the public (Usually you have to go through a plumber to get a Bradford). The newer Moen 1222 cartridges are just a little larger in diameter than were the old ones. The woman at the register in League City was familiar with this problem and I was told to sand the cartridge for a few seconds until it slid in as it should. She was absolutely correct. If I had gone to a big box store I would have been told something else.
