The newer Moen 1222 cartridges are just a little larger in diameter than were the old ones. The woman at the register in League City was familiar with this problem and I was told to sand the cartridge for a few seconds until it slid in as it should. She was absolutely correct. If I had gone to a big box store I would have been told something else.
