As a fedex employee fedex drop boxes are very "ok". They frequently break down, and customers constantly misuse them. I had an experience of a Kafkaesque nightmare with a fedex drop box once that was broken down, but despite video evidence the Fedex bureaucracy said it was perfectly functional. It was very upsetting and lowers my expectations for them forever. On the other hand they still technically function in their role, just don't expect to much out of them.
