Workmanship from their subcontractors wasn't up to par. Supervision was essentially non-existent — damage and mistakes on site never got reported to me. I had to find them myself. When I asked for receipts, which the contract entitles the owner to see, I got pushback instead of paperwork. On a cost-of-work contract, that's not a small thing.
