Best Alterations in East Bay I have been a regular happy customer for years, Mary is the most skillful and kind semsters around. She has made dresses for my wife and altered cloths for all my family members; including Prom dress for my daughter. Very profesional and caring.
How do they stay in business? This place looks promising upon entering, since it's clearly a business wholly dedicated to tailoring and alteration. However, I've had far better alterations done at dry cleaners before. I brought in a cotton jacket to be shortened, one that didn't even have a lining, so it was a simple matter of cutting off some fabric and making a new hem at the bottom. The hem they did is all wobbly and was done in a noticeably darker thread than the rest of the stitching on the coat.
She messed up my wedding gown!! I had driven all over Berkeley to find a seamstress to make an adjustment to my gown. I thought it was a pretty simple process, that did not require completely undoing the dress. I was about to walk out when she assured me that she make the dress as I wanted. I drew a picture of how I wanted the dress to look and demonstrated it twice, explained it to her three times and had her explain it back to me.
Don't go here! I brought a pair of pants here to be taken in. Although the lady I spoke to was adorable, I felt that she couldn?t really understand me due to the language barrier, and was a bit hesitant to have the alteration done here. But I did, and I regret it. The hemming looked unprofessional, like I could have done it myself. It also cost $40. I haven?t been back since, and I have never worn those pants.
Good Tailor If you are in the market to get your clothes tailored or custom made or altered you really need to check out this place. they are highly experienced and do an amazing job at what they do. If you are on eof those who has tough times getting your favorite dress fitted after losing or gaining extra pounds, go to this place. I recently bought a dress from Macy's that I adored but didnot fit me that well...FBM did an amazing job. They take a little time but do an amazing job. Enough parking outside
Tailor & Alterations This shop is located at the foot of Solano Avenue in Albany. The most prominent sign says something about "tailor" (i.e. what you would see from the street if you were driving by), there is only a little small sign in the window that says "fashions by mary". ANYWAY, I had never had anything altered before & took my VERY EXPENSIVE suit there. (It needed to be altered because I have lost weight.)
