I am deeply disturbed and outraged by the recent decision of this GP surgery to send a letter to all its trans patients informing them that they will no longer be treated. This is a blatant act of discrimination to the LGBT+ community and goes against basic principles of healthcare. Everyone, regardless of their gender identity, deserves access to care and support, especially from medical professionals. Discrimination and withholding care.
They will choose not to treat some patients based on their protected characteristics. My cousin is a patient here, and just received a letter that from 1st April, she can't receive treatments any more because the doctors here aren't qualified to treat her. The letter said people of her protected characteristic are "outside of our expertise". I'd be worried that they aren't qualified for anything else, personally. She's too upset to post her own review, so I'm doing it for her.
