This place matches or has way better prices then the big pet chain stores I've been going to and they have a better selection. Can't beat that.
Great store and staff – I love this store. The people are friendly. I agree the little dude is slightly creepy but we all have to work right? They have a wonderful selection of anything you need at least like 25% cheeper than other stores. Gravel for fish tanks and decorations are 3 to 4 dollars cheaper. They all seem to really know their stuff on fish and the dogs they get are always really cute and they come and go quickly. that's good. They do have a wonderful rodent selection. And a great selection of fish and fish suppl... read more
Great Place for Fish – This pet store, if you're looking for fish, is superb. I stock my tank with primarily aulonocaras, and there's typically a good selection. The prices are low and again, the selection is very good. The owner also gave us excellent advice about saving $$ on frontline dosages for our pets. The store isn't perfect, but I disagree with the reviewers below about the store being dirty, ugly, weird, etc. I ALWAYS go here for my fish. I always get a good selection and I always save a lot of $$ and the owner and... read more
Best source of feeder rodents in town – I own 2 finicky ball pythons that refuse to eat anything but gerbils (their native food). This is the only place in town that will sell them as feeders. Any good pet store should sell food for any pets that they sell. Most stores in the Portland metro area don't, that isn't a problem here. No it isn't a beautifully layed out store but they have a great variety of supplies for all animals from exotics to your typical pets. Other reviews mentioned a creepy vibe, neither my wife or I have... read more
Dirty animals, unfriendly staff, but some nice fish – When I drove up to this store, I saw something small and black creeping across the floor. I'm pretty sure it was a small domestic rodent. The store is cobwebbed and crowded... like the other reviews say. I ventured to this store for the fish. On my way back to the fish corner, the little black thing creeping turned out to be a rodent that rhymes with house. She was a cute little thing and seemed half tame.I bent down, she stopped, and I scooped her up into my hand. I brou... read more
Bad Advice on Aquatic Frog – An African Dwarf frog of mine had a fungus and I called around to several stores for help. Family Pet is close by, so I tried them. Unfortunately, they prescribed me an antibiotic tablet which, when I used it as they directed, made the fungus worse. I had always assumed Family Pet specialized in fish and small aquatic animals, but apparently not!
Family Pet Center has a 4.2 star rating with 141 reviews.
