They ignored me when I called back in December asking for help escaping my abusive marriage, and now after my wife left and took our children, leaving me with nothing but chronic PTSD, theyve chosen to help my abuser instead of me because she went to them "first." Its absolutely disgusting that this place allows themselves to be used by abusers to continue their abuse even after the relationship ends, while denying support and resources to those ACTUALLY suffering from the effects of abuse.
Great place. They are closed during holidays- it has to do with funding. Other community groups can help you with your safety plan if you are dealing with abuse.
Called yesterday and after how I was spoken to, this place is a joke. Was sitting in a parking lot in Watford after having to leave my house, called, I had a quarter tank of gas, they said they had room for one night in the center in Williston, I was a wreck, hyperventilating etc. told her I didn’t have money, a quarter tank of gas and was a wreck and didn’t feel comfortable driving a hour like that, that’s when she said they didn’t have to help, I was like can’t you put me in a hotel and she said they leave those for those ... read more
I haven’t personally been to the shelter. I do have the pleasure of knowing one of the staff members her name is krissi and what she brings and does for this place of safety for those who need is far and beyond what is required of her I’m sure all that meet you will agree thanks for you being you
