Hotel is in a great spot and the staff try their best but the hotel is really showing its age and the rooms, and specifically the gym, are really not in great shape. So much potential but doesn’t align with other Fairmont properties.
Arrival to departure our stay was without a hiccup. Fast, friendly, efficient reception desk. Valet parking was timely and helpful. Our room was spacious, sparkling and well equipped. The room was refreshed to its high level of standard daily. We will always opt to stay at the Chateau Laurier.
I had one request for the entire stay. I phoned to ask why the Fairmont internet was not showing up as an option. They said I needed to speak to the help desk to which they transferred my call which was subsequently disconnected. I called back and got the same person. I asked for the help desk at which time he said he would transfer the call but instead put the phone on the counter and proceeded to carry on a discussion with co-worker. Great view, comfortable, compare to direct competitors service is ok but may be under staffed. Prestigious location is their real advantage, closed to the very hot spots of Ottawa center town. All in all, a very nice place.
