I would only book this place if you are on a tight budget, which I was at the time. The saving grace was the breakfast--it was a great spread and everything was laid out very nicely; unfortunately it only goes for one hour in the morning. My main complaint about this place was that the AC unit in my room was not really working. I called Daryl and he said he would have a look at it, but he never came. It would have been a great stay had it not been for a small incident and the way it was handled. I stayed in room 2 and got locked out. The key was stuck in the door and would not turn. I let the inkkeeper know. She sent the housekeeper to help. She could not turn the key either. The innkeeper then tried. Same result. She called another gentleman to also try. Wife and I decided to spend our honeymoon in New Orleans. It was our first time here and we wanted an authentic experience, not some cookie cutter hotel stay where the interiors and amenities are the same from NOLA to NYC. Fairchild House offered just what we were looking for. The vibe from the room itself, to the cute little dining room for free breakfast, to the outside patios and balconies gave us a slice of what New Orleans life could be like.
