Ed Fairbanks is extremely knowledgeable, honest and the only person I recommend without hesitation to guide you in your purchase (or sale) of a new and used boat. I bought my first boat through him in 2005 and have relied on his experience and expertise for my subsequent boats until this day.
Stay far away from this broker!! I have recently purchased a boat from them in ct and I came from NY. We had a contract with stipulations of the boat being fixed. When I arrived with my mechanic/surveyor nothing was stated on the contract was completed. So not being a waste of money for me, (since I had to pay my mechanic for taking a 3 hour ride) we proceed with the deal. Now its time to take the boat home. I just completed the 4th transaction with Ed Fairbanks and Fairbanks Yacht Group. Ed acted as the buyers broker on two boats and the selling broker representing me for the sale of two boats. This most recent deal had a series of challenges brought on by the buyers documentation company. I have dealt with numerous brokers and by far Ed Fairbanks knows his craft , the local industry and has more in-depth knowledge of boats than anyone I have dealt with . 4 minutes ago-Edit I have just finished purchasing a used boat, 2007 Legacy 32, in Old Saybrook, CT. The seller had selected Ed Fairbanks as the broker. Ed came to represent me as well.
