Absolutely terrible experience. I was stranded less than a mile from their office after misplacing the car key. Instead of helping, the employee told me they couldn’t access the spare key. Apparently, nobody on site had access to it. Rather than sending someone to assist or providing a solution, they expected me to call a locksmith and pay to have an entirely new key made for their car. I had a long trip and drive from Utah to San Diego with some inconvenient circumstances that were unrelated to the excellent car I rented. I expressed my experience to Layne in the management department. Layne was very helpful, understanding and professional. He made my day by making me feel like a valued customer. Express Car Rentals in San Diego is a scam. They quoted me one price, then overcharged me, and even attempted to charge unrelated credit cards for thousands of dollars. When questioned, they responded with disrespect and evasion. This is unethical and predatory. I strongly urge everyone to avoid this company. I will be reporting them to the BBB, FTC, CFPB, and the Attorney General. Do not trust them.
Express is the best company and rental car service in San Diego!! Paul and his entire team couldn't have been any more kind and helpful!! I needed a long term rental in San Diego and this was the absolute best experience! I was able to get a reliable car for an affordable price, they always checked it every month to make sure everything was up to date and safe.
