Very good experience. Huge array of exhibits, So grateful that Evergreen shows it thanks to veterans with a free pass plus one! There was a Cobra helicopter, which is what I worked with while in the military, so it really made my Veterans Day! Thanks so much!
Of course the outdoor airplanes initially attracted my family and I. There are 3 main buildings. 1- airplanes 2- space museum 3- waterpark. Due to time contraints, we only visted the airplane museum. What an awesome expierience! Super clean, lots of aircraft and artifacts! What made it even better is the extremely friendly staff. Majority of them were older gentlemen (who are veterans) and they genuinely enjoyed giving tours and sharing both knowledge and personal stories. My family and i will definately be going back!!!
I love museums and this one is top tier! As many times as I go, I always learn something new, especially by talking to the knowledgable docents and volunteers. I once chatted with a pilot there who flew several combat missions in a B-17 during WWII, who couldn't get a civilian pilot job after the war because....he was too young! My Father-in-law flew that critical mission at Chosin Reservoir with Ens. Expensive but worth the price! This has to be the best air museum we have ever seen. Your tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and we really enjoyed. The Spruce Goose was amazing but unbelievable all the different planes on exhibit. The space museum was incredible, and enjoyed the 3D movie. And there was even more to explore outside, we could have spent more time and not seen everything and will next visit. Made a lot of changes since I was a kid.. it looks great, especially the Space center!
While the entrance fee is fairly expensive, you can understand why. It cost eight million to transport the Spruce Goose alone! All the planes,rockets, etc., cost a fair amount to acquire and maintain. The place is staffed mostly by volunteers who absolutely love their jobs, and it shows in the pride and knowledge they exhibit. Beautiful collection of interesting aircraft across the spectrum of light. Worth the trip time and expense to see.
