Dr. Aguero is amazing. I lost my commercial insurance and it’s been a hard transition for me so I am very grateful to have family health center and the help they have given me. Yes, the two-minute grace period is a real thing. And they don't budge. If you're even just three minutes late, that puts you 1 minute past the grace period and they won't let you have your appointment as scheduled. That's what happened to me. How many times have i waited 40 minutes + in the lobby to see my doctor? And they have the nerve to impose a 2 minute grace period? Don't be late. They have a 2 minute grace period. 2 MINUTE! I was there 5 minutes early, but due to an urgent matter, I chose to finish my call in the parking lot instead of being disruptive to the people and patients in the waiting area. I walked in 3 minutes past my appointment time and the receptionist refused to honor my appointment. Total truth, even she acknowledged how ridiculous the rule was, but still wouldn't let me see the doctor so I drove all the way over there for nothing. I am sharing my experience with Family Health Centers of Escondido in the hope that it encourages improvements in patient care. My sister passed away in April 2026. Despite notifying the clinic multiple times of her death, I have now received three calls attempting to schedule follow-up appointments for her. That alone reflects a concerning lack of communication within the organization. Unfortunately, this was consistent with our experience while she was alive. Took an HOUR AND A HALF after my appointment time to be seen. I arrived 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment. The provider, Safa Yaqobi, saw me for a few minutes and referred me to dermatology (I knew that’s all I needed, hate HMOs). But she referred me to a provider who doesn’t accept my insurance. I did the feedback survey and requested a call back. That was April 30th. Today is May 18th. The staff was friendly, that’s why it’s not one star.
