I had to attend the Epworth Richmond emergency room in June 2025 when one of my kidney stones got dislodged two days before a planned removal procedure. It was the worst pain I had ever felt. I barely had to wait to be seen (it was 5:30am). I can't thank the emergency room staff enough - nurses Helen and Paige worked hard to bring me back to normal. I had surgery the next day by Dr. Daniel Steiner and recovered in no time.

What an absolute scam. I came in with an injury to my foot and was told that I would not be seen or get through the doors unless I payed $535 upfront. I caved and payed because I thought that was going to give me some peace as I was literally in agony and in a wheelchair. But no, after waiting for 3 hours I was finally seen, taken to get an X-ray then put in a waiting room until a doctor was finally ready to talk to me. I am perplexed by some of the low ratings as my (several different) experiences have been excellent. I brought my mother-in-law here with diabetic leg ulcers. As she is a foreign national but entitled to reciprocal public health care, we were given a written referral to the Head of Emergency at RMH so she could have her care expedited at a much lesser cost. Very much appreciated. I too have been an emergency admission via ambulance and was extremely happy with the clinical care and the overall patient experience.

This “hospital” (for profit business) treats its patients like cash dispensers with very little thought for their well-being or care. Making people in immense pain wait hours upon hours for help is cruel, then providing inadequate treatment with poor diagnosis is further cruelty, and then making patients wait for more than an hour just to be discharged while completely ignoring requests for further help or information is beyond negligent.
