Why bother paying for private health insurance when, in a genuine emergency, it leaves you abandoned? After waiting 8 hours with not a single visit by the doctor finally gave up and left. That is the reality; you pay for private health, but when your life is on the line, you’re left waiting until you’d rather risk going home untreated than endure the indifference of this hospitals "treatment."

My father was urgently referred to the emergency department by his GP due to a critically low platelet count of 29, placing him at serious risk of internal hemorrhaging. My parents, both in their 70s, arrived at the hospital shortly after 4pm and paid $320. A blood test was taken at 6pm, but no physician ever followed up. It has taken me over 12 months to be well enough to even provide feedback so that what happened to me should never happen to another patient. I’m extremely disappointed with this hospital and their care after a serious incident. Where is your duty of care towards me? Very sad. Very disappointed.

5 stars and more ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Today I had multiple Imaging investigations at Epworth Waurn Ponds. Although I was there over 3.5 hours, I received amazingly professional and friendly care. Every investigation was explained thoroughly beforehand. In particular I would love to thank Peta, Jo, Mary, Pippa and Lauren. I would be more than happy to have any future investigations at Epworth (although I prefer not to require any more). Thanks heaps Henny 🌹🌹🌹

If the ambulance asks you if you want to go to Geelong Hospital or the Epworth always choose Geelong Hospital. The Emergency Department staff walk around with eftpos machines - “can you pay for that now?” You will get seen quickly because the place is deserted but they’ll forget to admit you to a ward for five hours and then worst of all you’re stuck in this hospital. I don’t think private hospitals are up for the challenge of doing anything but elective surgery. No one asked about my Mum’s medications or medical history or ... read more
