Dr. Epstein called me stupid to my face when talking with her about the multiple symptoms I was suffering: extreme fatigue, body and joint aches, and memory problems. She also insinuated that I was having marital simply because I wasn't wearing a ring (I do a lot of dirty work with my hands) and mental issues and needed to leave my church because it must be too oppressive to women and was causing my symptoms. At first she appears like a great physician that collects the ' "Whole story" of an illness, but eventually there are no useful suggestions. She blamed my pain on unresolved mommy/daddy issues and told me unless I removed the boundaries my counselor and I had put in place to keep my emotional self safe, I would be in life long pain. A few months later a Rheumatologist diagnosed me with fibromyalgia, started mild meds, and I have felt 100x better for years now. Avoid. 5 star reviews are accurate, but 1 star reviews capture chronic missteps in care. Thorough, productive exams eventually lead to long, tedious exams hijacked by Dr.'s preconceptions/areas of expertise. Health concerns falling outside her wheelhouse are met with dismissal or excruciatingly slow research on the spot. "Thorough" devolves into a complete lack of respect for patient's time and feedback. Very thorough and professional. Communicates with patients and is receptive to their explanation of symptoms. A very good Doctor!
I have had Dr. Epstein as my primary doctor for over 15 years, and have been very please with her. She is an excellent doctor. I have recommended her to many of my friends.
Thorough, competent, and gives me more time and attention than the sum total of all my other doctors combined. If you ail, she won't fail.
She will take the time to listen to you. She will then take the time to tell you to suck it up and if anti-depressants don't help then you're on your own (I wasn't seeing her for depression/anxiety but I sure felt like it by the time I left). If you ask her about current research you have found in peer reviewed journals she will tell you they have it wrong and extinguish any hope you had. I ended up having panic attacks anytime I had to see her for follow ups and eventually changed doctors
She takes the time to listen to your concern, she never make you feel that unimportant. She will answer questions in away that you can understand.
