They installed an on demand water heater years ago. I’ve spent an over a 1000$ on repairs on it. The last repair I noticed it smells like natural gas when it runs. Reading the installation manual it states the exhaust and intake must be a minimum of 12 inches apart. There is even a nice picture of how it should be done. As you can guess mine are 3 inches apart.
