Do not send a loved one here. The director/owner is unscrupulous, unethical and a pathological liar with serious anger issues. Verbal guarantees made will NOT be provided in writing, and not honored. I paid large amounts of money for a 90-day inpatient stay, guaranteeing us 6 to 8 weeks of subsequent “free” aftercare which never took place, due to the rehab's deplorable financial condition, which resulted in the elimination of the promised aftercare program. Make sure to pay attention to their reviews on all sites, including the BBB. Horrible experience. Owners are not involved unless it is about money. They have zero medical background. Staff never stays long. Constantly changing rules and making them up as they go along. I have never seen such an unorganized place! I've been to a handful of treatment centers in my life, but Empower was by far the best. It felt like I was on a well needed vacation, in a beautiful spot with my own private room and access to my phone and laptop. We went out several times each week to go shopping, to the beach, to the movies, mini golf and out to dinner. But it was a working vacation, where I learned amazing techniques to calm my mind and body, and have helped me get sober. This place, and the people who work here, *completely* changed my life. I spent nearly 4 months here residential (9/8/16-12/25/16), and left suddenly because they do not treat severe eating disorders, and my anorexia had reached a point of becoming a liability. I was warmly given a letter upon my difficult departure that if I completed a residential treatment program for my ED, along with a few other stipulations, that I could be reassessed to come back for PHP/IOP.
