I've been seeing Dr. LaFontaine at least once a year for about five years now, and every visit is truly a pleasant experience. Let's face it, a visit for some of these kinds of exams is never fun, but his manner is professional and straightforward and he always explains everything in terms I can understand. I've seen other reviews about the check-in process being disorganized and other negative comments - I just want to go on record to say that I have neve experienced anything like that.
Very poor follow up. An antiquated phone system and it has been very difficult to get through to someone following a procedure I had. I saw one of the docs there for years and then he had some health problems and wasn't available for many months. The problem was becoming acute so I agreed to see one of the other Doctors, a Doctor Sillari. And while he did the procedure, it didn't help that much. It took me 6 days, 15 calls, 47 transfers, 3 dropped calls, and 0 call backs before I gave up and got a refferal to another facility. Registration/making an appointment with any Mass General department was the most time consuming and annoying thing i have done in a LOOONG time. If you have high blood pressure or have migraines, please look elsewhere. You health is not worth it.
This is a review of the billing department of Emerson Urology Associates. I have been prompted to write this as I have once again experienced the passive aggressive approach used by this department. I have been billed by other Emerson hospital practices with no issues; a bill is mailed to me I call up and pay. Just yesterday I received a robo phone call from the billing department containing a “friendly reminder” to pay that sounded more like a threat.
