9 hour wait time for shortness of breath on individual with extensive cardiac history including heart attack and 18 stents. Both ER beds and hospital beds full. Er staff did not inform individuals waiting to be seen so the could go elsewhere. When I inquired as to why we were not informed,. advised by triage nurse they are not allowed to divert. If you choose this ER anticipate long wait times and inexperienced triage nurse!!!!
So, I went to the Emergency Room at UPMC's West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg, PA. I was experiencing shortness of breath, with a persistent cough, and I couldn't fill my lungs without starting a coughing jag. It's a good thing that I left the ER - without being treated - after EIGHT HOURS. Very long wait times (4 hours) in the ER even for folks in congestive heart failure! Totally unacceptable!
